These unique pop-up books take on average a month to make (in excess of 200 hours) and go through ten different stages from dying sheets of watercolour paper with industrial fabric dyes, through the assembly stage of joining hundreds of separate units, to the sculptural spine and ornamental clasp.
The movable structures have no folds. Dovetail joints, interlocking units and paper piano hinges enable greater flexibility of moving parts. In fact, the whole book can be taken to pieces and re-assembled!
Custom made clamshell boxes made by Stephen Conway (Stephen Conway Bindery) to hold these books can be provided at extra cost.
